The Thermogroup Heated Towel Rail is a 12V dry element electric appliance. Installation must be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with local regulations. The rail must be connected to the supplied 12V transformer; connecting directly to mains power will cause irreparable damage. The transformer must be located within 2 meters of the rails to prevent voltage drop. The rail is designed to warm and dry towels, not to act as a room heater.
What's in the Box
- Thermorail Single Bar Rail
- 12Volt Transformer
- 2m Connection Cables
- Screw Kit: 2 x Mounting Brackets, 2 x Wall Plugs, 2 x Countersunk Screws, 2 x Grub Screws, 1 x Allen Key
Standard Installation

- Switch off mains power: Ensure the circuit is disconnected before starting.
- Install transformer: Place in ceiling or wall cavity (max 2m from rails). Ensure ventilation and access.
- Install wall brackets: Measure and mark positions. Drill 6mm holes, insert wall plugs, and fix brackets. Drill a second 6mm hole on the right side for the cable.
- Fix rail: Remove grub screws, locate rail over brackets, connect cable clips, and tighten grub screws with the Allen key.
Mounting System Installation
This method is for installations requiring a mounting system (e.g., tiled walls).

- Install mounting system: Fix spigots to the mounting system at the desired spacing. Mark and predrill holes for cables and fixings.
- Install to wall: Fix the mounting system to the wall and pull electrical cables through. Overboard with 12mm gyprock or villa board and cover with mesh tape.
- Tile the wall: Apply tiles and adhesive.
- Install left-hand bracket: Ensure it is level with the right-hand spigot.
- Fix rail: Locate rail over spigot and bracket, connect cables, and secure with grub screws.
Wiring Diagram
Multiple rails must be wired in parallel to the transformer. The transformer should not be located further than 2m from the rails to avoid voltage drop, which prevents the rails from reaching full temperature.

Operating Instructions
The towel rail will feel warm within 5-10 minutes and reach optimum operating temperature in approximately 30 minutes. The surface temperature is 35°C without a towel and 50-55°C beneath a towel. It takes approximately 3-4 hours to dry a towel, depending on ambient temperature, towel size, and dampness.
Safety and Care
- Install at least 600mm above the floor and 300mm from permanent fixtures.
- Ensure the rail is protected by a suitably rated RCD circuit.
- Do not use the rail to hold items that have been in contact with oil, petroleum, or dry cleaning fluids.
- Do not immerse the rail in liquid.
- Cleaning: Use a soft cloth and non-abrasive cleaning agent. Avoid harsh scrubbing, scratching, or acid-based products.
