Before using your VonShef 1.5L Filter Coffee Machine for the first time, it is essential to flush out the system 2-3 times with water only to remove any manufacturing residue. Do not add coffee during this process.
Safety information
- Thermal cut-out: The appliance features a thermal cut-out switch. If it overheats, it will shut down. Unplug and allow to cool for 30 minutes before reuse.
- Hot surfaces: Be aware that surfaces can become hot during and after use.
- Water safety: Never immerse electrical components or the plug in water.
- Usage: For domestic use only. Do not use outdoors or on wet surfaces. Not intended for use with external timers or remote control systems.

Operation
Control Panel:
- HOUR/MIN: Used to set the current time or desired working time.
- ON/OFF: Press once to switch on (instant brewing, red light). Press twice for delayed function (blue light). Press a third time to switch off.
- PROG: Toggles between 'TIMER' and 'CLOCK' functions.
- MODE: Selects coffee strength (1 bean = weak, 2 beans = mild, 3 beans = strong).
Setting the Delay Function:
- Press the PROG button to set the current time (CLOCK) using HOUR and MIN buttons.
- Press PROG again until TIMER is shown.
- Enter the desired working time.
- Press the ON/OFF button twice. A blue indicator light will show, and the machine will start brewing automatically at the set time.
Cleaning and Maintenance
- Hand washing is recommended for the carafe and filter components.
- Soak in warm soapy water and wipe with a soft sponge.
- Use a non-abrasive cleaning brush for stubborn stains.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners, harsh solutions, or metal scouring pads.
- Never wash electrical or heating components in a dishwasher.

Common problems
Appliance shuts down during use
The thermal cut-out switch has activated due to overheating. Unplug the appliance and allow it to cool for 30 minutes before reuse.
New smell or vapour during first use
This is normal and will dissipate after a few uses.
Coffee strength is not as desired
Use the MODE button to adjust strength. Press once for weak, twice for mild, and three times for strong coffee.
Before use
- Flush the system 2-3 times with water only before first use.
- Ensure all parts are securely attached.
- Place the appliance on a firm, flat, heat-resistant surface.
- Check that your electricity supply matches the rating plate.
