The Acuity Brands Controls System Startup Afterhours service provides a qualified Field Service Engineer to conduct system inspection and programming. This service ensures the system operates according to end-user specifications. Programming is conducted after normal business hours, specifically between 5:00 PM and 1:00 AM, Monday through Thursday.
Contractor Responsibilities
The installing contractor is responsible for the following tasks prior to the startup visit:
- Installation and termination of all DMX wiring.
- Addressing of all non-RDM fixtures.
- Installation of all devices and terminations of Cat 5 RJ 45 connectors.
- Providing device IDs and locations for all installed devices.
- Coordinating any required site-specific security training.
- Providing access to all areas to program and verify system functionality.
- Providing all necessary equipment, including ladders, to access installed devices and wiring.
- Ensuring a representative knowledgeable in the system installation is present during the startup visit.
- Coordinating end-user training and any required media recordings.
Acuity Brands Responsibilities
The Acuity Brands Qualified Field Service Engineer will perform the following:
- System startup and programming according to the approved sequence of operation.
- Verification of system functionality.
- Conducting end-user training.
- Providing a Field Service Report, end-user training sign-in sheet, and a turnover packet containing the sequence of operation and programming database.
Scheduling and General Notes
- Notice: Acuity Brands requires a 12-business-day notice to schedule an onsite visit.
- Cancellation: Requires a 48-hour (2 business day) notice; otherwise, additional charges may apply.
- Documentation: Installation Worksheets and Service Request Forms must be completed and available at the time of the startup. Delays caused by incomplete documentation are the responsibility of the contractor.
- Phased Startup: Communicate requirements with your Acuity Brands agent or distributor.
System Onsite Startup Procedures
The startup process encompasses various systems. Note that not all items apply to every system:
- Gateway Programming: Implementation of system backbone network, device discovery, and time-based/astronomical scheduling.
- Switch Programming: Programming of On/Off/Dimming functionality and scene selection devices.
- nLight Enabled Luminaire: Programming individual or grouped scenes and Lumen Management functions.
- Fresco Touchscreen: Programming up to 36 lighting scenes and zones, partition control, and integration of nLight components.
- nPWDMX Snapshot Controller: Review of DMX/RDM wiring, programming 1 universe (512 addresses), and up to 8 DMX scenes.
- BACnet Integration: Activation of BMS license, preparation for integration, and provision of BACnet object lists.
- GreenScreen: Installation of SensorView software, load wattage information entry, and training on report generation.
End User Training
Training is scheduled by the installing contractor and occurs upon completion of system programming. The training covers:
- Overview of the system (components, controls, time schedules, photocell functions).
- System Software (graphical software, bus files, updates, BACnet/3rd party integration).
