Overview of Service
The Acuity Brands Controls System Startup Weekend service provides a qualified Field Service Engineer to conduct system inspection and programming. This ensures the lighting controls system operates according to the end user's specifications. The service is conducted over the weekend, from Saturday through Sunday.
Contractor Responsibilities
To ensure a successful startup, the installing contractor must complete the following tasks before the service visit:
- Installation: Install all devices, terminate all Cat 5 RJ 45 connectors, and install/terminate all applicable DMX wiring.
- Preparation: Address all non-RDM fixtures and document device IDs and locations.
- Access: Provide access to all areas required to program and verify system functionality.
- Equipment: Provide all necessary equipment, including ladders, to access installed devices and wiring.
- Personnel: A representative directly involved with the system installation must be present during the startup visit.
- Training Coordination: Coordinate any required site-specific security training and end-user training.
- Documentation: Complete all Installation Worksheets and have them available at the time of startup.
Acuity Brands Responsibilities
The Field Service Engineer will perform the following:
- Conduct a site walkthrough to verify system checks and readiness.
- Program the system according to the approved sequence of operation.
- Verify system functionality.
- Conduct end-user training.
- Provide a Field Service Report, end-user training sign-in sheet, and a turnover packet containing the Sequence of Operation and programming database.
Scheduling and General Requirements
- Notice: Acuity Brands requires a 12-business-day notice to schedule an onsite visit.
- Scheduling: Site visits occur between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm (Local Time), Saturday and Sunday.
- Cancellations: Require a 48-hour (2 business day) notice; late cancellations may incur additional charges.
- Delays: Startup delays caused by incomplete or unavailable Installation Worksheets are the responsibility of the installing contractor.
System Programming Scope
The startup service encompasses various systems, including:
- Gateway: Implementation of the backbone network, device discovery, and time-based/astronomical scheduling.
- Switch: Programming of On/Off/Dimming functionality and scene selection.
- nLight Enabled Luminaire: Programming of individual or grouped scenes and Lumen Management functions.
- Fresco Touchscreen: Programming of up to 36 lighting scenes, partition control, and integration with nLight components.
- nPWDMX Snapshot Controller: System review, programming of 1 universe (512 addresses) of DMX/RDM, and up to 8 DMX scenes.
- BACnet Integration: Activation of BMS license, controller preparation, and verification of communication.
- GreenScreen: Installation of software plug-in, load wattage entry, and training on report generation.
End User Training
Training is available upon completion of system programming. The session covers:
- Overview of the system (components, controls, schedules, photocell functions).
- System Software (navigation, updates, integration).
- Preventative Maintenance.
- Warranty Information.
- Service & Support.
Items Not Included
The standard startup service does not include work on non-Acuity Brands equipment. Any deviation from the approved sequence of operations or incomplete/incorrect installation may result in additional charges.
