Sensor Setup
The sensor features an A-B-C switch located inside the battery compartment. If you are using this sensor with a companion product that also has an A-B-C switch, you must set both devices to the same letter to ensure they synchronize correctly.
Installing Batteries
- Slide off the battery compartment cover.
- Insert 2 x AA batteries into the compartment, ensuring the polarity (+/-) matches the diagram inside.
- Replace the battery cover.
Note: Acurite recommends high-quality alkaline or lithium batteries for best performance. Use lithium batteries if the sensor will be exposed to temperatures below -4°F (-20°C).
Placement for Maximum Accuracy
The sensor is water-resistant and suitable for indoor or outdoor use. For best results, follow these guidelines:
- Place the sensor in an area protected from direct weather elements.
- Hang the sensor 4 to 8 feet above the ground using the integrated hanger or a string.
- Ensure the location has plenty of fresh air circulation.
- Keep the sensor out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources.
- Maintain a distance of at least 3 feet (0.9 m) from electronic devices like TVs or microwaves to prevent interference.
- Ensure the sensor is within 330 ft (100 m) of the companion unit.
- Avoid placing the sensor near large metal surfaces or thick walls that may block the wireless signal.
