Setup
To begin using your thermometer, follow these steps:
- Battery Installation: Remove the battery compartment cover on the outdoor sensor and insert 2 x AA batteries, following the polarity diagram. For the display, remove the back cover and insert 2 x AAA batteries.
- Battery Recommendations: Use high-quality alkaline batteries. For the outdoor sensor, use lithium batteries if temperatures are expected to drop below -4°F (-20°C).
- Temperature Units: Press the °C/°F button on the back of the display to toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius.
- Synchronization: Once batteries are installed, the sensor will automatically synchronize with the display. This may take a few minutes.
Placement Guidelines
Proper placement is critical for accuracy:
- Display: Place in a dry area free of dust and dirt. It can be used on a tabletop or wall-mounted.
- Outdoor Sensor: The sensor is water-resistant but should be placed in an area protected from direct weather elements. The ideal location is 4 to 8 feet above the ground in a shaded area with good airflow.
- Range and Interference: Keep the display and sensor within 165 ft (50 m) of each other. Avoid placing units near large metallic objects, thick walls, or electronic devices like TVs, microwaves, or computers to prevent signal interference.
Display Modes
- Auto-Cycle Mode: By default, the unit cycles through indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity readings. Press the SELECT button on the back of the display until the Auto-Cycle icon appears to enable this mode.
- Manual Mode: Press the SELECT button to manually toggle between indoor and outdoor readings.
Care and Maintenance
Clean both the display and the outdoor sensor using a soft, damp cloth. Do not use caustic cleaners or abrasives. Keep the display's ventilation ports free of dust by using a gentle puff of air.

Common problems
No outdoor sensor reception or no bars
Relocate the display or sensor, ensure they are within 165 ft (50 m), and keep them at least 3 ft away from electronics that may cause interference.
Outdoor temperature is flashing or showing dashes
Bring both units indoors, remove batteries, reinstall them, and allow a few minutes for the units to establish a strong connection.
Inaccurate temperature or humidity readings
Ensure both units are placed out of direct sunlight, away from heat sources or vents, and positioned away from moisture sources.
