Quick guide from the manual

This document provides instructions for setting up and operating the Acurite 00609SB wireless weather thermometer. Key requirements include installing batteries in both units within a 6-minute window to ensure synchronization and placing the wireless sensor within 100 feet of the main unit. Ensure the sensor is protected from direct weather elements for longevity.

Device Overview

The system consists of a main unit and a wireless sensor. The main unit displays indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity, along with daily high/low temperature records. A clear protective film on the LCD should be removed before use.

Setup and Installation

Battery Installation:

  • Wireless Sensor: Remove the 4 battery compartment screws, open the cover, and install 2 fresh AA batteries.
  • Main Unit: Remove the battery compartment cover and install 3 fresh AA batteries.
  • Important: Always install batteries into the wireless sensor first. Install batteries in both units within 6 minutes of each other to ensure proper synchronization.

Temperature Units: Slide the switch located inside the battery compartment of the main unit to select between Celsius (°C) or Fahrenheit (°F).

Placement

Main Unit: Place in a dry area, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, or vents. It can be wall-mounted using the integrated hang hole or placed on a flat surface using the detachable stand.

Wireless Sensor: Must be placed outdoors, less than 100 feet from the main unit. While water-resistant, it is recommended to place it in an area protected from direct weather elements, direct sunlight, and heat sources.

Interference Prevention: Keep both units at least 3 feet away from electronic appliances (TVs, microwaves, radios) and large metal surfaces or thick walls that may interfere with radio frequency communication.

Operation and Maintenance

Once powered and synchronized, no further input is required. The system updates automatically. If reception is poor, check the wireless signal reception icon on the display. If the sensor is exposed to temperatures below -4°F (-20°C) for extended periods, use lithium batteries to ensure continued operation.

Troubleshooting

  • Bad Reception (no bars): Relocate units closer together (within 100 feet) and ensure they are at least 3 feet away from interfering electronics.
  • No Outdoor Data: If reception is good but no data appears, replace the sensor batteries. Ensure the wireless ID (A, B, or C) matches on both the main unit and the sensor.
  • Main Unit Display Not Working: Check battery installation or replace batteries.

Product Specifications

Measurement Ranges:

  • Temperature: Main Unit: 32°F to 122°F (0°C to 50°C); Sensor: -40°F to 158°F (-40°C to 70°C).
  • Humidity: 20% to 95% RH (Accuracy: +/- 5 units).

Power Requirements: 3 AA batteries for the main unit, 2 AA batteries for the sensor (alkaline or lithium).

Wireless Communication: 433 MHz frequency, transmission interval every 16 seconds.

Practical help

Common problems

Bad reception (no bars on display)

Relocate units closer together (within 100 feet) and ensure they are at least 3 feet away from electronic appliances like TVs or microwaves.

No outdoor temperature or humidity display

Check if batteries need replacement and ensure the wireless ID (A, B, or C) matches on both the main unit and the sensor.

Main unit display not working

Verify that batteries are installed correctly or replace them with fresh ones.

Before use

  • Remove the clear protective film from the LCD screen.
  • Have a Phillips screwdriver ready for the sensor battery compartment.
  • Prepare 5 fresh AA batteries (3 for main unit, 2 for sensor).
  • Ensure both units are within 100 feet of each other.
  • Select the desired temperature unit (Celsius or Fahrenheit) inside the battery compartment.

Specs in practice

Wireless Frequency
433 MHz; the radio frequency used for communication between the sensor and main unit.
Transmission Interval
Data is updated every 16 seconds.
Operating Temperature (Sensor)
-40°F to 158°F; use lithium batteries if temperatures drop below -4°F.

Images and diagrams

  • The wireless ID switches (A, B, C) are located inside the battery compartments of both units and must be set to the same letter for communication.
  • The main unit features a detachable stand for table-top placement and a rear hole for wall mounting.
  • The wireless signal reception icon shows 4 bars for good reception; fewer bars indicate potential interference.

Model compatibility

  • The wireless sensor is water-resistant but should be placed in a protected area to extend product life.
  • Do not use rechargeable batteries.
  • Do not mix old and new batteries or different types (alkaline/standard).
