The ADJ Monster Duo is a 2-in-1 DMX LED moonflower and strobe lighting effect. It features three operating modes: Sound Active, Show Mode, and DMX Control. The unit includes an automatic voltage switch (100V-240V) and supports daisy-chaining power for multiple fixtures.
Safety Precautions
- Indoor use only: Outdoor use voids all warranties.
- Mounting: Always secure the fixture with a secondary safety cable. Ensure the mounting surface can hold 10 times the device's weight.
- Electrical: Do not expose to rain or moisture. Do not remove the cover; there are no user-serviceable parts inside.
- Eye Safety: Avoid looking directly into the light source.
- Ventilation: Allow at least 6 inches (15cm) of space between the device and any wall.
Installation and Hanging
Always install the fixture in a safe and stable manner. Use a safety cable attached to the provided safety bolt for added protection. Never stand directly below the device when mounting, removing, or servicing. Ensure all rigging is complete before connecting the power cord.
Setup and DMX
The Monster Duo is a 1-channel DMX fixture. The DMX address is set electronically via the rear panel menu. Use approved 110 Ohm DMX cables for data transmission. For long cable runs (over 100 feet), use a terminator on the last fixture to prevent erratic behavior.

Operating Modes

- Sound Active: The fixture reacts to sound. Use the "Sound State" menu to turn on/off and "Sound Sense" to adjust sensitivity (0-100).
- Show Mode: Choose from 12 preset shows or random show (Show 0).
- DMX Control: Allows control via a DMX-512 controller.
- Master/Slave: Link up to 16 units without a controller. One unit acts as Master, others as Slave 1 or Slave 2.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Periodic cleaning is required to optimize light output, especially in environments with smoke or fog. Use a soft cloth and glass cleaner for the external casing and optics. Clean external optics every 20 days and internal optics every 30-60 days. Always dry parts completely before reconnecting power.
Troubleshooting
- No light output: Check the external fuse on the rear panel and ensure the fuse holder is properly seated.
- No response to sound: Ensure the sound source has sufficient bass frequencies. Tapping on the microphone or high-pitched sounds may not trigger the unit.
