Quick guide from the manual

The Aurora AU-DSPLED is a rotary dimmer switch designed specifically for 1-10V dimmable LED drivers and ballasts. It features push on/off functionality and provides smooth dimming from 0 to 100%. Important: This device is not compatible with mains voltage GLS or halogen lamps, electronic or wire-wound low voltage transformers, or fans. Installation must be performed by a qualified electrician.

Product features

  • Push on/off, rotary dimming control.
  • Integrated over-temperature protection fuse.
  • Short-circuit protection.
  • Ultrasonically sealed module to reduce dimmer buzzing.
  • Smooth dimming operation from 0 - 100%.

Installation instructions

Before beginning, ensure the power is switched off. A 3-core cable is required for installation.

  1. Install the mounting box in the required position.
  2. Connect two wires from the 1-10V Dimmer terminal of the control gear (LED Driver or Ballast) to the + and - terminals of the dimmer switch.
  3. Connect a live feed to the common terminal (C) of the dimmer switch and connect from L1 to the Live input of the control gear.
  4. When stripping cables, ensure no bare conductors can project from the terminals.
  5. If using a metal front plate, it must be earthed using the Earth terminal or Earth fly lead on the front plate.
  6. After connecting, push the dimmer back into the wall box, ensuring wiring is not trapped. Tighten the fixing screws, but do not over-tighten to avoid distorting or breaking the front plate.
  7. Switch on the mains supply and push the dimmer knob to operate.

Wiring circuits

The dimmer module has 5 screw terminals: L1, L2, C (common), and the 1-10V connections marked + and -.

1-Way Switching

In 1-way lighting circuits, the light is controlled by a single switch. Connect the two wires to the C terminal and either L1 or L2. One of the L terminals remains unused.

2-Way Switching

2-way switching allows control of the same lights from two different locations (e.g., top and bottom of a staircase). A standard switch is used in conjunction with the dimmer for this setup.

Safety and maintenance

A slight buzzing noise may be heard during operation, which is perfectly normal. Do not perform insulation resistance tests on a lighting circuit with the dimmer switch connected, as this may damage the electronic components. The product is guaranteed for 1 year from the date of purchase, provided it is installed in accordance with I.E.E. Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
