This manual provides essential instructions for the Avantco 177VBE101A and 177VBE102M Electric Vertical Broilers. These units are designed for commercial, indoor use only. Always inspect the unit for damage before use and ensure it is installed on a level, non-combustible surface.

Installation
Electrical Connection: Ensure the unit is connected to a properly grounded power socket with the correct voltage. 177VBE101A requires 120V (NEMA 5-15P), while 177VBE102M requires 208/240V (NEMA 6-30P). Do not use multiple sockets or extension cords.

Clearances: Maintain a minimum clearance of 12 inches (30 cm) from sides and back for combustible construction, and 4 inches (10 cm) for non-combustible construction. Keep 16 inches (41 cm) away from open-top flame units.
Before First Use: Thoroughly wash the protective oil from all surface parts and the tank interior using hot soapy water. Rinse and dry completely.
Operation
Start Up: Connect the power supply, turn on the motor switch to rotate the spit, and flip the heater switch(es) to begin cooking. Note that the 177VBE102M has three independently controlled heating elements.
Loading Meat Cones: Place the spit assembly through the cone, ensuring the smaller diameter is supported on the round disk. Secure the spit assembly into the easy-load latch at the top and lower it into the base to engage the motor drive. Keep meat 3-5 inches from the heat source.
Cooking Guidelines: Meat must cook continuously until carved. Do not turn the unit off during the day to compensate for slow periods. Ensure meat reaches a minimum internal temperature of 158°F (beef) or 170°F (poultry/pork).
Cleaning and Maintenance
Daily Cleaning: Cut power and allow the unit to cool completely. Use a non-scratch scraper to remove excess grease. Clean the basin, spit assembly, and grease protection cap daily with warm water and mild soap. Do not get water or soap into the motor gear assembly.

Heavy Cleaning: For stubborn deposits, use a non-metallic scouring pad. Never use wire brushes, steel wool, or corrosive cleaners like vinegar. Always rub with the grain of the stainless steel.
