Quick guide from the manual

The Blackstar ID:X FLOOR series is an advanced digital amp modeller. To begin, connect the supplied 9V power adapter to the rear panel. Plug your instrument into the 1/4 inch Input Jack. Use the Master volume to control the overall output level. The unit features a built-in chromatic tuner; hold the TAP footswitch to access it. For Windows users, an audio driver is required for USB connectivity, available on the Blackstar website.

Top Panel Controls

The top panel provides tactile control over your sound:

  • Voice Selector: Choose between guitar amp, acoustic, or bass amp voices.
  • Gain & Volume: Adjust preamp overdrive and output levels.
  • Tone Stack (Bass, Middle, Treble): Shape your frequency response.
  • ISF Control: Shifts the tonal signature between American (tight, aggressive) and British (woody, less aggressive) characteristics.
  • Shift Controls: Press SHIFT to access secondary functions like Gate, Resonance, and Presence.
  • Response: Selects valve emulations (EL84, EL34, 6L6 for amps; Linear, 6550, 6L6 for bass).

CabRig and Simulated Output

CabRig provides IR-based speaker and microphone simulation. Press the CABRIG switch to focus it. You can edit parameters like Cab Type, Microphones, Room Level, Room Size, and Room Width. You can set the CabRig mode to 'Patch' (saved with the patch) or 'Global' (consistent across all patches). Note that the 'To Amp' output on the rear panel is CabRig-bypassed and intended for use with an external power amp and guitar cabinet.

Effects and Signal Processing

The unit features four independent effect blocks: Pre FX, Modulation, Delay, and Reverb. Press the corresponding switch to turn an effect on/off or focus it for editing. Use the Type and Page encoders to navigate and adjust parameters. The LED status indicates the block state: White (on and focused), Red (on but not focused), or Off (bypassed).

Patches and Manual Mode

You can store up to 99 patches across 33 banks. To save a patch, press MANUAL and SHIFT simultaneously, navigate to the desired location, and press both again to confirm. Manual Mode allows you to use the unit as a traditional amp where the sound reflects the current physical position of the knobs.

Expression Pedal

Available on ID:X FLOOR TWO and THREE, the expression pedal can control Volume, Wah, or custom assigned parameters. Press the EXP MODE button to cycle modes. To assign a parameter, hold EXP in CUSTOM mode, then turn the desired parameter on the unit.

Tuner and Factory Reset

Hold the TAP footswitch to enter Tuner mode. Play a single open string and tune until the indicator is centered. To perform a factory reset, hold the MOD, DLY, and REV switches simultaneously while switching on the unit. Warning: This will overwrite all user-saved patches.

Technical Specifications

The series includes three models with varying dimensions and weights:

  • ID:X FLOOR TWO: 2.07 kg, 315 x 68 x 173 mm

Practical help

Common problems

No sound when connected to a guitar cabinet

The 'To Amp' output is CabRig-bypassed and does not include a power amp. It must be connected to an external power amp, not directly to a passive cabinet.

Expression pedal not controlling the desired parameter

Ensure the pedal is in CUSTOM mode and you have assigned a parameter by turning it while in Assign mode.

Windows computer does not recognize the device via USB

Download and install the required audio driver from your Blackstar account product download page.

Patch settings are not saving

Ensure you press MANUAL + SHIFT to initiate saving, then press them again to confirm the save.

Before use

  • Connect the supplied 9V power adapter.
  • Plug your instrument into the 1/4 inch Input Jack.
  • Connect headphones or output devices to the appropriate rear panel jacks.
  • Ensure the unit is at room temperature if moved from a cold environment to avoid condensation.

Specs in practice
