Quick guide from the manual
The Blackstar DEPT10 Boost is a high-voltage valve boost pedal designed to provide dynamic gain and tone shaping. This guide covers the essential operation and safety requirements for the device. Always use the supplied power adaptor and high-quality screened guitar leads for optimal performance.

Controls
- Input: Connect your guitar here using a high-quality screened lead.
- Boost: Adjusts the gain boost. Low levels provide a dynamic clean boost; higher levels introduce valve harmonics and compression.
- Low: A cut and boost tone control for bass frequencies. 12 o'clock is neutral.
- High: A cut and boost tone control for treble frequencies. 12 o'clock is neutral.
- Output: Connect to your amplifier or other pedals. Features a built-in buffer/line driver to preserve tone over long cables.
- On/Off Switch: Toggles the effect on or off.
- Valve Guard: Protects the internal ECC83 valve. Do not attempt to remove.
Safety and Maintenance
Warning: High internal operating voltages. Do not open the case; there are no user-serviceable parts inside. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.
- Do not expose the unit to rain, moisture, or liquids.
- Ensure the unit is at room temperature before switching on if moved from a cold environment.
- Use only the supplied power adaptor (9V DC, 500mA).
- Maximum ambient operating temperature is 35°C.
- Operate at a maximum altitude of 2000m.
- Clean only with a dry cloth.

Practical help
Common problems
Ensure all instructions were followed; if the issue persists, refer the product to a qualified service engineer.
If moved from a cold to a warm environment, allow the unit to reach room temperature before switching it on.
Before use
- Use only the supplied PSU-500 power adaptor.
- Ensure the power outlet has an earthed connection.
- Use high-quality screened guitar leads.
- Verify the ambient temperature is below 35°C.
- Ensure the unit is placed on a stable surface.
Specs in practice
- Input Impedance: 1MΩ
- Standard high impedance for guitar pickups to ensure optimal signal transfer.
- Output Impedance: < 1KΩ
- Low output impedance allows for driving long cables and multiple pedals without signal loss.
- Valve: ECC83 / 12AX7
- The vacuum tube responsible for the pedal's harmonic character and gain.
