Important information about Blustream 1GbE switches

This document serves as a compatibility guide for Blustream AV over IP systems. It lists officially recommended 1GbE network switches and outlines the technical requirements for using switches not explicitly listed. Please note that Blustream cannot guarantee performance if switch firmware or custom configurations are altered.

Note: The Blustream IP500UHD and IP510UHD series utilize SDVoE technology and require a 10Gb network infrastructure. These systems are not compatible with the 1Gb switches listed in this document.

Practical help

Common problems

Video distribution not working with IP500UHD/IP510UHD

These systems require 10Gb network infrastructure; 1Gb switches are not compatible.

Switch not on the approved list

Ensure the switch supports L2, 1GbE Managed, Multicasting, IGMP Snooping, QoS, and Jumbo Frames.

Before use

  • Verify if your AV over IP system requires 1Gb or 10Gb infrastructure.
  • Check if your switch model is on the Blustream approved list.
  • Ensure the switch supports IGMP Snooping and IGMP Querier Election.
  • Confirm if PoE is required for your AV over IP units (PSUs are not supplied as standard).

Specs in practice

IGMP Snooping
Essential for managing multicast traffic in AV over IP systems.
Jumbo Frames/MTU
Required for handling larger data packets used in AV transmission.

Model compatibility

  • IP500UHD and IP510UHD series require 10Gb infrastructure.
  • Blustream does not guarantee performance if switch firmware or custom configurations are changed.
