The Bosch Truvo is a digital detector designed to locate metal objects and live wires behind walls. The device uses a simple traffic light system to indicate detection status. For accurate results, ensure you follow the preparation steps, specifically regarding static electricity and circuit load.

Preparation and safety

Before using the device, ensure you are prepared to avoid false readings:

• Remove jewelry: Take off watches, rings, and other metal jewelry before scanning.
• No gloves: Do not wear gloves while operating the device.
• Static discharge: If the device behaves unexpectedly, place your free hand flat on the wall surface to discharge static electricity.

Metal detection

To detect metal objects:

1. Hold the device against the wall.
2. Move the device slowly across the surface.
3. Observe the traffic light indicator.

Live wire detection

To improve the detection of live wires:

• Create a load: Plug an electrical device (like a lamp or drill) into the socket you are testing and switch it on. This creates a current flow, making the wire easier to detect.
• Scan technique: Move the device slowly over the area. If the device indicates a live wire, perform a 3x pass over the area to confirm the location.

Traffic light system

The device uses a color-coded system to communicate findings:

• Green: No object detected.
• Yellow: Object is nearby.
• Red: Object detected.
