Maintenance of sprocket wheel, chain bar, and saw chain

Bosch recommends using original Bosch chains, bars, and sprocket wheels to ensure optimal chain brake performance. Conversion kits for different chain pitches are available via the Bosch customer service website at www.bosch-pt.com.

Identification and compatibility

Always check the chain gauge to determine the compatible chain bar. The recognition marking (23) on the chain bar corresponds to the identification tables provided in the manual.

Replacement procedure

1. Slide the kickback brake lever (5) forward from position 1 to position 2, away from the front handle (4).
2. Remove the chain bar and saw chain as described in the 'Assembly' section of your original operating instructions.
3. Inspect the sprocket wheel cover for signs of wear.
4. Remove the securing ring using securing ring pliers (M1).
5. Remove the washer (M2) (ignore for chain bar type Z).
6. Replace the old sprocket wheel with a new one, ensuring the surfaces are aligned (M3).
7. Replace the washer (ignore if switching from chain support Y to Z) and the spring ring using appropriate pliers.
8. Reinstall the chain bar and saw chain, then tension the chain according to the 'Assembly' section of your original operating instructions.
