The Caliber RCD 234DAB-BT is a car radio unit designed for 12V DC negative ground systems. This guide covers essential installation, operation, and maintenance steps. Before starting, ensure you have removed the two transport screws from the top of the unit, as failure to do so may prevent CD loading.
Installation
Professional installation is recommended if you are not confident with automotive electrical systems. Always disconnect the negative battery terminal before beginning.

- DIN Front Mount: Remove the old unit, insert the supplied mounting sleeve into the dashboard opening, and bend the tabs to secure it. Attach the wiring, then insert the radio until it clicks.
- Wiring: Connect the ISO connector leads according to the diagram. Ensure the black lead is connected to a clean, bare metal chassis ground.
- Speaker Requirements: Use 4 speakers with an impedance of 4 to 8 Ohms. Do not bridge outputs or ground negative speaker leads to the chassis.
- DAB Antenna: Place the antenna on the windshield near the A-post. Stick the transparent part to the glass and the black part to the metal frame.
Basic Operation
- Power: Press the PWR button to turn on/off.
- Mode Selection: Press the MOD button to cycle through AUX, RADIO, CD, and Bluetooth modes.
- Sound Settings: Use the SEL button to access Volume, Treble, Balance, Fader, Loudness, and Equalizer settings.
- Clock: Press and hold the PTY/CLK button to set the time using the volume knob.
Bluetooth Operation
The unit is always in standby mode for pairing. Search for "RCD234DBT Caliber" on your phone. If a password is required, enter "0000". Once paired, you can make calls, accept/reject calls, and stream audio (A2DP).
Maintenance
Clean the unit with a clean, dry cloth. Do not use liquids or petroleum distillates. If replacing a fuse, ensure the new fuse has the same amperage (10A) as the original.
