Quick guide from the manual
The Danfoss Type OFC Check and Stop Valve is designed for oil-free environments, specifically for use with Danfoss Turbocor compressors. The valve must be installed in a vertical down orientation as delivered. If other orientations are required, the internal check valve spring must be replaced with the color-coded spring corresponding to the specific angle.
Technical Specifications
- Refrigerants: UL listed for R134a, R513A, R515B; CE approved for fluid group 2, including R1234ze(E).
- Media Temperature: Min 0°C / 32°F; Max 90°C / 194°F (short term up to 100°C / 212°F).
- Max Working Pressure: 23 bar / 334 psig.
- Environment: Oil-free.
Installation
Install the valve directly on the Danfoss Turbocor compressor. Protect the valve from impact during installation. All fasteners and bolts must be stainless steel with a minimum class of A2-70.
- Staging Port: Bolt size M10x1.5, Torque 38 Nm ± 4 Nm.
- Outlet Flange Fasteners: Torque 110 Nm.
- Brazing: Place outer flange on evenly cut copper pipe. Ensure the flange is not mounted on the main housing during brazing. Use minimum 5% Ag.
Orientation and Spring Configuration
The valve is delivered with a blue spring for vertical down installation. If the orientation is changed, the spring must be replaced:
- Vertical down: Blue spring (as delivered).
- 45° down: Yellow spring.
- Horizontal: Red spring.
- 45° up / Vertical up: Not allowed.
Maintenance: Changing the Check Valve Spring
- Remove the check valve insert from the main housing.
- Remove the check valve head.
- Remove the spring and replace it with the correct color based on the intended orientation.
- Replace the check valve head and insert.
- Install the outlet flange, O-ring, and fasteners.
Note: Always apply provided lubrication to the O-ring. Use silicone lubricant spray at the O-ring if needed. For check and stop valves, always replace the lock ring and cap after opening/closing the ball valve.

Practical help
Common problems
Replace the internal check valve spring with the color-coded spring matching the new orientation (Yellow for 45° down, Red for horizontal).
Ensure the flange is not mounted on the main housing during the brazing process.
Apply provided lubrication to the O-ring; use silicone lubricant spray if necessary.
Before use
- Verify refrigerant compatibility (R134a, R513A, R515B, R1234ze(E)).
- Ensure the system is oil-free.
- Check that media temperature is within 0°C to 90°C.
- Use stainless steel fasteners (min class A2-70).
- Verify torque settings: 38 Nm for staging port, 110 Nm for outlet flange.
