Installation Guide for Danfoss RLV-X, RTX & RA-URX Valves

The Danfoss RLV-X, RTX, and RA-URX valves are designed specifically for the return flow of a radiator system. Ensure the valve is installed on the return pipe, not the supply pipe. The factory setting for maximum flow is marked as N.

Mounting the valve

The valve can be installed using either compression fittings or threaded pipe connections. Always ensure the valve is placed on the return side of the radiator.

Mounting with compression fittings

1. Prepare the return pipe.
2. Attach the compression fitting components to the valve and the pipe.
3. Tighten the connections securely to ensure a leak-free seal.

Mounting with threaded pipe

1. Ensure the pipe threads are clean and compatible with the valve.
2. Apply appropriate sealant if required by local plumbing standards.
3. Screw the valve onto the threaded pipe and tighten securely.

Flow settings

The valve features an adjustable flow setting. The factory setting is N, which provides the maximum flow rate. Adjust this setting according to your system's specific balancing requirements.

Filling and draining the radiator

To fill or drain the radiator, use the Danfoss drain cock adaptor. Ensure the system is depressurized before attempting to drain the radiator.

Filling the radiator

1. Attach the Danfoss drain cock adaptor to the valve.
2. Connect the filling hose to the adaptor.
3. Open the valve and allow the radiator to fill, ensuring air is bled from the system.

Draining the radiator

1. Attach the Danfoss drain cock adaptor to the valve.
2. Connect a hose to the adaptor to direct the water to a drain.
3. Open the valve to allow the radiator to drain completely.
