Important Information for Installation

This guide covers the replacement and installation of the pre-programmed MCX 15b controller for IPS 8 systems. The unit is plug-and-play ready, but specific safety procedures must be followed before disconnecting the old unit to ensure the ammonia system is depressurized.

Safety and Preparation

Before disconnecting and removing the old MCX controller, you must depressurize the ammonia side of the purger unit. Follow these steps carefully:

Depressurizing the ammonia system
Depressurizing the ammonia system
  1. Close all supply lines from the purge points of the ammonia system (marked as 'a').
  2. Restart the controller to force pump-down.
  3. Wait for 20 minutes.
  4. Stop the compressor by turning the compressor switch QM1 to the off position.
  5. Close the SVA shut-off valve in the drain line located under the IPS8 (marked as 'b').
  6. Release the remaining system pressure to ambient pressure by opening the SNV drain valve (marked as 'c'). Alternatively, attach a permanent magnet on the AKVA 10 valve for forced opening.

Replacing the Controller

Once the system is depressurized and safe:

  • Locate the rail lock on the controller.
  • Pull the rail lock to release the controller from the suspension rail.
  • Unplug all connections from the old controller.
  • Plug all connections into the same sockets on the new controller.

Wiring and Connections

Refer to the wiring diagrams provided in the manual for precise connection points:

Controller Upper level wiring
Controller Upper level wiring
  • Controller Upper Level: Refer to the upper wiring diagram for connections regarding Analog Inputs, Digital Inputs, and Digital Outputs.
  • Controller Lower Level: Refer to the lower wiring diagram for connections regarding Digital Outputs, Analog Outputs, RS485, and Power.

Configuration

After installation, perform the following configuration steps:

  1. Switch QM2 to the on position.
  2. Configure the number of purge points. Refer to the IPS 8 user guide to activate the multipurger (label y02) and enter the number of purge points.
  3. Configure any other customer-specific settings if applicable. The pre-programmed MCX15B (code 084H5052) is plug & play ready, so only specific custom values need to be entered.

Controller cannot be removed from the rail

Ensure you are pulling the rail lock mechanism to release the controller from the suspension rail.

Before use

  • Ensure the ammonia system is depressurized.
  • Close all supply lines from purge points.
  • Stop the compressor using switch QM1.
  • Close the SVA shut-off valve.
  • Verify all wiring connections match the original controller layout before powering on.
