The Dremel VersaTip 2000 is a versatile cordless butane tool designed for various applications including soldering, cutting, shaping, and heat shrinking. This guide provides essential information for safe operation, maintenance, and usage.

Filling the tank
The tool runs on liquid butane gas. Ensure you use refined butane gas suitable for lighters. Hold the tool and container as shown in picture 8. Fill the tank until liquid butane escapes through the filling valve. Warning: Do not overfill the tank.

Getting started
The tool features a child safety mechanism requiring two-handed operation to prevent accidental ignition. To ignite, follow the steps in pictures 2 and 3. The ceramic insulator will glow shortly after ignition. If the tool is cold, ignition may cause a short whistling sound, which is normal.
Using with an open flame
To use the tool with an open flame, unscrew the flame guard, remove the catalyst (and any attached tip), then screw the flame guard back onto the tool and tighten the nut securely.
Installing or changing tips
Always allow the tool to cool fully before removing or replacing tips. The catalyst must be installed to use tips. Slide the catalyst into the flame guard with the narrow part facing outward. Secure tips tightly using the 7mm wrench. Use the 8mm wrench to hold the catalyst in place if necessary.
Installing or replacing a nozzle
If the nozzle becomes clogged due to butane impurities, it can be replaced. 1. Unscrew the flame guard nut. 2. Remove the flame guard (and catalyst/tip). 3. Unscrew the ceramic insulator. 4. Remove the nozzle by hand by gently turning and pulling. 5. Install the new nozzle with the small opening facing outward. 6. Reinstall the ceramic insulator and tighten. 7. Replace the flame guard and tighten the nut.
Maintenance
Switch the tool off and allow it to cool completely before cleaning. The exterior can be cleaned with a clean cloth and neutral detergent if necessary. To clean the soldering tip, soak the soldering sponge in water and wipe the tip while it is still hot.
