This manual provides instructions for the Dual 1239G turntable. Before operating the unit for the first time, ensure you have read the setup instructions carefully. The unit is designed for 33 1/3 and 45 rpm records. Always ensure the tonearm is locked and the stylus guard is down during transport.
Unpacking and Setup
Follow these steps to prepare the turntable for use:

- Remove transit protection: Loosen the transit safety screws by turning them clockwise until they slide downward (approx. 15 mm) to release the chassis.
- Counterweight installation: Remove the counterweight from the packaging. Loosen the set screw (11) and insert the shaft of the counterweight into the opening at the rear of the tonearm. The triangular notch must point downward.
- Connections: Connect the phono cables to your amplifier and the power cord to the mains.
Tonearm Balancing
Proper balancing is essential for correct tracking force:

- Set the stylus pressure dial (9) and anti-skating mechanism (12) to '0'.
- Unlock the tonearm and remove it from the rest.
- If the tonearm does not balance horizontally, loosen the set screw (11) and slide the counterweight until the tonearm floats horizontally. Tighten the set screw.
- Once balanced, set the stylus pressure to the value recommended by your cartridge manufacturer using the dial (9).
- Set the anti-skating mechanism (12) to the same value as the stylus pressure.
Operation
The turntable features automatic and manual operation:

- Automatic Start: Move the operating switch (15) to 'start'. The tonearm will automatically move to the lead-in groove.
- Manual Start: Move the cue control lever (13) to the raised position. Move the tonearm by hand over the desired point on the record. Lower the cue control lever to lower the tonearm.
- Stop: Move the switch to 'stop'. The tonearm will return to its rest position and the unit will shut off.
- Pitch Control: Use the pitch control knob (2) to adjust the speed by approximately 6% (1/2 tone). Use the illuminated strobe to verify speed accuracy.
Record Changing
For automatic record changing (30 cm records at 33 1/3 rpm or 17 cm records at 45 rpm):
- Insert the changer spindle (18) or column (20) into the center hole.
- Load up to six records onto the spindle.
- Move the operating switch to 'start'. The first record will drop and play.
Maintenance
The turntable requires minimal maintenance:

- Belt Replacement: If the belt needs replacement, lift the platter mat, rotate the platter to access the drive pulley, remove the old belt, and install the new one. Ensure the belt runs freely within the guide fork.
- Lubrication: All lubrication points are factory-oiled. Do not attempt to oil the unit yourself. If service is required, contact an authorized Dual service center.
