Quick guide from the manual

The EHX Big Muff Pi with Tone Wicker is a battery-operated distortion pedal. It maintains the classic Big Muff Pi sound while offering additional tonal shaping capabilities through the Wicker and Tone switches.

Controls

  • Sustain knob: Adjusts the amount of sustain and distortion.
  • Tone Knob: Allows you to dial in the balance between deep bass and high treble.
  • Volume Knob: Sets the overall output level of the effect.
  • Wicker Switch: When set to ON, it opens up the high-frequency bandwidth for a bright, clear top end. Set to OFF for the classic Big Muff Pi sound.
  • Tone Switch: When set to ON, the Tone knob is active. When set to OFF, the Tone knob and its circuitry are bypassed, providing a powerful drive with uncolored gain.

Connections and Power

The pedal features standard 1/4" jacks for input and output. The unit is powered by a 9V battery or an external AC adapter.

  • INPUT Jack: Connect your instrument here. Input impedance is 130 kΩ.
  • OUTPUT Jack: Connect your amplifier or next pedal here.
  • 9V Power Jack: Use a 9VDC power supply. The polarity must be center negative. The unit requires 50mA. Electro-Harmonix recommends the US96DC-200BI power supply.

Operation

The pedal features a Status LED. When the LED is lit, the effect is active. When the LED is off, the pedal is in True Bypass mode. Use the footswitch to toggle between effect and bypass modes.
