Quick guide from the manual
The EHX Stereo Clone Theory is a chorus and vibrato pedal designed for stereo operation. To begin using the pedal, connect your instrument to the Input Jack and your amplifier(s) to the Main or Stereo Output Jacks. Power is automatically activated when a cable is plugged into the Input Jack. Ensure you unplug the input cable when the unit is not in use to preserve battery life.
Controls
- Mode Switch: Selects between three modes: CHR 1, CHR 2, and VIBR.
- CHR 1: Chorus mode with preset depth. The DEPTH control is inactive.
- CHR 2: Chorus mode with full control over both RATE and DEPTH.
- VIBR: Vibrato mode. The dry voice is removed, and you have full control over RATE and DEPTH.
- RATE Control: Adjusts the rate of modulation.
- DEPTH Control: Adjusts the modulation depth. Note that this is inactive in CHR 1 mode.
- Footswitch: Toggles the pedal between engaged and True Bypass. The LED indicates when the pedal is engaged.
Connections
- Input Jack: 1/4 inch jack for audio input. Plugging in here activates the unit.
- Main Output Jack: 1/4 inch jack for mono operation. In True Bypass, this is connected directly to the Input.
- Stereo Output Jack: 1/4 inch jack for the second audio output.
Stereo Operation
The Stereo Output is 180 degrees out of phase from the Main Output. This creates a panning effect when using two amplifiers. You can control the panning intensity using the RATE and DEPTH knobs.
Power and Battery Replacement
The unit can be powered by an internal 9-volt battery or an external 9-volt battery eliminator (power supply). The power supply must be capable of delivering 100 mA of current, with the inner ring negative and the outer ring positive. To change the battery, remove the 4 screws on the bottom of the pedal, take off the bottom plate, and replace the battery. Do not touch the circuit board while the plate is removed.
