The EHX-2020 Chromatic Tuner Pedal is designed for precise instrument tuning. The device features a true bypass, silent tuning capability, and adjustable reference frequency. Always ensure the device is kept away from moisture, extreme temperatures, and excessive vibration to prevent malfunction.
Features and functions
- Foot Switch: Toggles the tuner on and off.
- Input Jack: Connects your instrument. Inserting a plug engages battery power. Always remove the plug when not in use to preserve battery life.
- Output Jack: Connects to an amplifier or other effects. When the tuner is active, the output is muted for silent tuning.
- DC 9V In Jack: For use with an external power adapter (5.5 x 2.1 mm, center-negative polarity).
- Pitch Button: Adjusts the reference frequency. Settings 0-5 correspond to 440-445Hz, and 6-9 correspond to 436-439Hz.

Operating procedure
- Connect your instrument cable to the Input Jack to power on the unit.
- Press the Foot Switch to activate the tuner.
- Use the Pitch Button to select your desired reference frequency.
- Use the Flat Button to select the desired flat tuning.
- Play your instrument and adjust until the desired note is indicated.
- Slowly adjust the instrument until the tuning guide reaches the center position.
- The instrument is in tune when the center of the tuning guide lights up.
Maintenance and safety
Do not disassemble the unit for repair. Clean only with a dry, clean cloth; do not use alcohol or paint thinner. Avoid dropping the tuner or applying excessive force to the controls.

Practical help
Common problems
Tuner does not turn on
Ensure the instrument cable is fully inserted into the Input Jack, as this acts as the power switch when using battery power.
Battery drains quickly
Remove the plug from the Input Jack when you finish playing, as the battery remains engaged while a cable is connected.
No sound from amplifier
Check if the tuner is currently active (Foot Switch pressed). When the tuner is on, the Output Jack is muted for silent tuning.
Before use
- Ensure you have a 9V DC adapter (5.5 x 2.1 mm, center-negative) if not using a battery.
- Use a clean, dry cloth for maintenance.
- Verify the instrument is connected to the Input Jack.
- Check that the amplifier is connected to the Output Jack.
