Quick guide from the manual

The Wampler Catacombs is a time-based multi-effect pedal. To ensure proper operation, always use a 9V DC Center Negative power supply with at least 130mA. Do not exceed 9V, as using 18V will damage the pedal and void the warranty. The pedal supports both Mono and Stereo connections using 2-4 guitar cables. For optimal performance, place the pedal after your gain stages, either in the effects loop of an amplifier or into the front input after your gain pedals.

Device Overview

The pedal features 6 Delay programs (ANLG, BBD, FTE, SPC, TAPE, DIGI) and 5 Reverb programs (SHMR, PLT, SPR, ROOM, HALL). You can select these using the Program Selector knob. Primary controls include Time, Mod, Feedback, Delay, and Reverb, which adjust parameters for the selected program.

Operation and Controls

Bypass and Alt Mode: The bypass switch turns the effect on and off. To access Alt controls, hold down the bypass switch until the bypass LED turns red. The mode will latch after 2 seconds for quick changes.

Primary Controls in Alt Mode: When in Alt mode, the knobs change function:

  • Time: Sets shimmer amount (when using Shimmer Reverb).
  • Mod: Sets modulation rate.
  • Feedback: Sets Reverb program decay.
  • Delay: Sets Delay tone.
  • Reverb: Sets Reverb tone.

Presets and Tap Tempo

Preset Management: Presets 1-8 are accessible via the front panel preset switch.

  1. To save a setting, hold the preset switch for 1 second until the preset LEDs blink.
  2. Select the destination preset by pressing the preset switch to cycle through 1-8.
  3. Press and hold the preset switch to save the configuration to the selected number.

Tap Tempo Switch: The right footswitch has multiple functions indicated by the tap tempo LED. Press and hold the switch for one second to cycle through modes:

  • Tap Tempo: LED blinks Blue.
  • Preset Increment: LED blinks Green.
  • Reverb On/Off: LED lights Red (Right footswitch activates Reverb, Left activates Delay).

MIDI and Advanced Features

The pedal offers complete control via MIDI CC Messages or PC Commands and can accept a global clock signal. By default, the pedal is set to 'omni channel' mode, accepting MIDI commands on any channel. You can also use an expression pedal via the 1/4" TRS input to control any parameter.
