Quick Guide for First Alert Firesafe

This guide covers the operation and maintenance of your First Alert Firesafe. Always store the safe in a flat, horizontal position to ensure fire protection. Never store keys or this manual inside the safe.

Opening and Closing Your Safe

Opening:

• Insert the provided key into the lock.
• Turn the key clockwise to the right.
• Push the large button; the locking latch will spring forward.
• Once the latch clears the lip, lift the lid.

Closing:

• Close the lid, ensuring no contents obstruct the seal.
• Push the latch back and down onto the lid clasp until it snaps into the closed position.
• Turn the key counter-clockwise to the left and remove it to lock the safe.

Proper Use and Maintenance

Moisture Warning:

• Place delicate items like pictures or jewelry in an air-tight container before storing them in the safe.
• Avoid areas of high humidity.
• Open and air out the safe for at least 20 minutes every two weeks to maintain performance.

Cleaning:

• Clean the safe using a damp cloth and dry it immediately.
• Do not use paint thinners or chemical solvents, as these can damage the finish.

Identification Numbers

It is strongly recommended to record your Model Number and Key Number. These are essential for contacting Consumer Affairs or ordering replacement keys.

• Model Number: Used to identify your specific safe model and its unique features.
• Key Number: Engraved on the keys and around the lock cylinder. This is required to obtain replacement keys if yours are lost.

Important Safety Warnings

• Always store the safe flat: Storing the unit on its sides or ends will not protect the contents during a fire.
• Never store keys inside: Keep keys in a secure location outside the safe.
• Do not return to store: If you have issues, contact First Alert Consumer Affairs directly.
