First time activation

Before using the safe, you must install the batteries and remove the shipping locking pin.

  • Install Batteries: Open the safe door. Slide the battery compartment cover (inside at the top of the door) forward. Install 4 AA batteries in the correct direction. The keypad will beep and lights will flash.
  • Remove Locking Pin: Locate the small plastic locking pin on the inside of the door. Pull it out completely and discard it.
  • Test Locking System: With the door open, push the locking button on the inside of the door and turn the handle to extend the live bolts. Ensure the mechanism works before closing the door.

Programming a personal passcode

The factory code is 159. You should change this immediately.

  1. With the door open, press the small reset button on the inside top edge of the door.
  2. The red and green lights on the keypad will flash. You have 10 seconds to begin.
  3. Enter your new 3-8 digit passcode followed by the # key.
  4. Immediately repeat the sequence (new passcode + # key).
  5. The green light will light up solid to confirm the new code is set.

Emergency override key and battery replacement

If you forget your passcode or the batteries die, use the emergency override key.

  • Access: Open the protective keypad cover. Remove the 2 screws securing the key lock cover below the keypad.
  • Unlock: Insert the key and turn clockwise to the right. Turn the handle to open the safe.
  • Battery Replacement: If batteries are dead, replace them with 4 new AA batteries in the compartment inside the door.
  • Test: Before replacing the lock cover, enter your personal passcode to ensure the safe opens electronically.

  • Sound: To enable/disable sound, enter the sequence # * #.

Use, care, and maintenance

Appropriate Use: This safe is fire-rated to protect memory sticks, CDs, DVDs, and USB drives. It is not intended for audio/video cassettes, floppy discs, film, or photos. Do not store pearls in this safe.

Maintenance: Replace batteries at least once a year. Clean the keypad with a dry cloth; do not use abrasive cleaners. Keep the safe in a low-humidity area.

Handy Hauler handle and wheels

The safe is equipped with a removable handle and wheel assembly for easy transport.

  1. Pull the handle upwards until it clicks and locks.
  2. Place your foot against the base and tilt the safe forward to extend the wheels.
  3. To remove the handle, push the release buttons on both sides and lift upwards.
