This guide covers the operation of First Alert security safes. The safe is opened using a pre-set 4-number combination or an Emergency Override Key. Important: Never store the combination or the emergency keys inside the safe. If you are missing parts, do not return the safe to the store; contact Consumer Affairs at 1-800-223-8566.

Opening the safe with combination dial
- Turn the dial LEFT (counter-clockwise) three times to clear prior settings.
- Begin by placing the dial on 0 (zero).
- Turn the dial LEFT, passing the first combination number FOUR (4) times and stop at the number on the fifth time around.
- Turn the dial RIGHT, passing the second combination number TWO (2) times and stop at the number on the third time around.
- Turn the dial LEFT, passing the third combination number ONE (1) time and stop at the number on the second time around.
- Turn the dial RIGHT and STOP on the fourth combination number.
- Turn the handle upward to the RIGHT to open the safe.
Emergency Override Key
The safe includes an Emergency Override Key for access without the combination.

- Locate the gray lock cover below the combination dial.
- Use a fingernail or flathead screwdriver to pry the circular plate upwards and remove it.
- Insert the Emergency Override Key into the lock and turn clockwise to the right.
- Turn the handle upwards to the right to open the safe.
- Remove the key and replace the lock cover.
Use, Care and Maintenance
Appropriate Use: The safe protects records and valuables. It is verified for fire protection of memory sticks, CDs, DVDs, and USB drives. It is not intended for audio/video cassettes, floppy discs, data cartridges, film, photos, or photo negatives. Do not store firearms, medication, or pearls in this safe.
Maintenance: Keep the combination dial free of dirt, debris, or liquids. Clean the outside surface with a mild cleaner like window cleaner; do not use abrasive cleansers. Air out the safe for at least 20 minutes every two weeks to prevent moisture buildup.
Identification Numbers
Record your Model Number, Serial Number, and Key Number on the form provided on the inside back cover of the manual. These numbers are required for customer assistance and ordering replacement keys.
