This guide applies to First Alert Waterproof Fire Safes. Key safety requirements include storing the safe in a flat, horizontal position to ensure fire protection, never storing keys inside the safe, and not storing firearms or medication. Note that model 2011F is fire-resistant only and is not waterproof.

Proper use and safety
First Alert Waterproof Fire Safes are designed to protect paper records and valuables. UL testing confirms the interior temperature remains below 350°F for 30 minutes during a fire up to 1550°F. For optimal performance, air out the safe for at least 20 minutes every two weeks. Avoid placing the safe in areas of high humidity. If storing delicate items like pictures or jewelry, place them in an air-tight container first.

Opening and closing the safe
Opening: Insert the key into the lock and turn clockwise. Push the large button and the locking latch will open and spring forward. Once the latch clears the lip, you can open the lid.
Closing: Close the lid, ensuring contents do not obstruct the seal. Push the latch back and down onto the lid clasp until it snaps into the closed position. Turn the key counter-clockwise to the left and remove it to lock the safe.
Assembling wheels
For model 2037WF, if the safe includes Easy Roller Wheels, follow the assembly instructions included in the box. Ensure the instructions on the wheel cart are upright and facing outward. After assembly, place the safe onto the cart. Do not sit or stand on the wheels. The maximum weight supported is 85 lbs.
Maintenance and care
To clean the safe, wash with a damp cloth and dry. Never use paint thinners or chemical solvents, as they can permanently damage the finish.
