FMS 1500mm Maule User Guide

Quick guide for the FMS 1500mm Maule RC aircraft, covering assembly, pre-flight checks, center of gravity, and ESC programming.

Table of contents

Quick guide from the manual

The FMS 1500mm Maule is a high-performance RC aircraft designed for STOL (Short Take-Off and Landing) capabilities. This guide provides essential information for assembly, setup, and safe operation. Always perform a range check before every flight and ensure the center of gravity is correctly balanced.

Model assembly

Installation diagram from the manual
Installation diagram from the manual
  • Landing gear: Install the landing gear set into the fuselage slot and secure with the four included screws.
  • Main wing: Slide the wing spar into the fuselage, connect servo and LED leads, and secure the wings and supporting bars with the provided screws.
  • Tail: Install the horizontal and vertical stabilizers, secure with screws, and connect the elevator and rudder pushrods to the control horns.
  • Propeller: Install the spinner backplate, propeller, washer, and adapter, then secure with the spinner screw.
  • Float set: Assemble the cross members and struts, attach to the fuselage, and connect the float servo lead to the rudder extension.

Battery and center of gravity

The recommended battery is an 11.1V 2200-3200mAh 50C Li-Po. The center of gravity (CG) should be 60-70mm from the leading edge of the main wing. Adjust the battery position forward or aft to achieve this balance.

ESC and transmitter setup

The included ESC features a safe start; ensure the throttle stick is in the low or off position before connecting the battery. The ESC is programmable via transmitter or optional programming card. Refer to the programming tone reference table for specific settings like brake type, motor timing, and low voltage cutoff.

Safety and maintenance

Always operate in an open area away from people and traffic. Inspect all screws and connections before every flight. Use foam-safe adhesives for repairs. If the motor fails to start or behaves unexpectedly, check the ESC throttle calibration and all electrical connections.

Practical help

Common problems

Motor does not respond to throttle

Ensure ESC is armed, throttle channel is not reversed, and throttle stick is at the lowest position.

Extra propeller noise or vibration

Check for damaged parts, loose spinner/propeller, or if the propeller is installed backwards.

Reduced flight time or underpowered

Recharge the flight battery or replace it if damaged.

Motor stops running in flight

Check for lost throttle signal and ensure proper radio equipment operation.

Before use

  • Ensure all screws are tightened.
  • Perform a ground range test.
  • Check that all control surfaces move in the correct direction.
  • Verify the battery is fully charged and securely installed.
  • Ensure the transmitter throttle stick is in the neutral/off position before connecting the battery.
