Quick guide from the manual

The HiKOKI WH 18DC is a cordless impact driver designed for tightening and loosening screws, bolts, and nuts. Important: Always ensure the battery is securely installed and the tool is held firmly during operation. The tool features a temperature protection circuit that may automatically stop operation during continuous work; if this occurs, allow the tool to cool down before resuming.

Operation

The tool features a tightening mode selector switch that allows you to adjust the tightening torque based on the task. Modes include Soft, Power, Bolt, Bolt Single, and Self-drilling screw mode. Note: Select the tightening mode only while the trigger switch is released.

Battery Charging

Before use, charge the battery using the specified charger (UC18YFSL or UC18YSL3). Connect the charger to a power source, and insert the battery firmly. The pilot/charge indicator lamp will provide status updates (e.g., blinking red for before charging, continuous light for charging, blinking for charging complete or errors). Always allow the charger to rest for 15 minutes between consecutive charging cycles.

Maintenance and Inspection

  • Driver bit: Regularly inspect for wear or damage; replace if necessary.
  • Mounting screws: Periodically check that all screws are properly tightened.
  • Motor: Ensure the motor winding is not damaged or wet.
  • Terminals: Keep the tool and battery terminals free of swarf and dust to prevent short circuits.
  • Cleaning: Wipe the exterior with a soft, dry cloth or a cloth moistened with soapy water. Do not use solvents.

Safety Warnings

Always wear eye protection. Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Do not operate in explosive atmospheres. When not in use, store the tool out of reach of children. Hold the tool by insulated gripping surfaces when performing operations where the fastener may contact hidden wiring.

Troubleshooting

If the tool does not operate normally, check the following:

  • Tool doesn't run: Check battery charge or if the safety function was activated (release and pull the trigger again).
  • Tool suddenly stopped: Check for overload or overheating; allow the tool to cool.
  • Bit issues: Ensure the bit matches the attachment portion (6.35 mm hexagonal shaft).
