Quick guide from the manual

This manual provides essential safety and operating instructions for the Hikoki 14DSL and 18DSL Cordless Rotary Hammers. Always read the full safety warnings before use to prevent electric shock, fire, or serious injury.

Device Description

These tools are cordless rotary hammers designed for drilling in concrete, steel, and wood, as well as tightening machine and wood screws. They feature a power/save mode and an LED light.

Safety Warnings

  • General: Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Do not operate in explosive atmospheres.
  • Electrical: Do not modify plugs. Avoid body contact with earthed surfaces.
  • Personal: Wear eye protection, ear protectors, and a dust mask. Do not overreach.
  • Battery: Recharge only with the specified charger. Use only designated battery packs.

Operation

Mounting the drill bit: Ensure the switch is OFF and the battery is removed. Clean the shank of the drill bit and check the latching by pulling on the bit.

Operating modes: Use the change lever only when the motor is at a full stop. Select between rotation + hammering (for concrete/anchor holes) or rotation only (for wood/metal with optional chuck).

Power/Save mode: Adjust the hammering force using the shift knob. Do not use the "SAVE" mode for drilling holes in wood to prevent motor burnout.

Charging

Before use, charge the battery. Connect the charger to an AC power source or a 12V DC in-car power source (UC18YML2). The pilot lamp indicates the charging status (e.g., blinking red for charging, solid red for complete, flickering red for malfunction).

Maintenance and Inspection

  • Tool inspection: Sharpen or replace dull tools immediately.
  • Mounting screws: Regularly inspect and tighten all screws.
  • Carbon brushes: Replace when worn to or near the "wear limit". Use only genuine HiKOKI carbon brushes (Code No. 999100).
  • Storage: Store in a place with a temperature below 40°C, out of reach of children.

Malfunction in the battery or charger. Take it to an authorized service center.

Pilot lamp lights green (UC18YML2) or blinks red (UC18YFSL) during standby
