Quick guide from the manual

The HiKOKI CR 12DA is a cordless reciprocating saw designed for cutting metal, stainless steel pipes, various lumber, and synthetic resins. This guide provides essential information for safe and efficient operation.

Description of the tool

The tool features a blade holder, a base for support, a trigger switch, and a battery mount. It is equipped with an LED light for visibility and a temperature protection circuit to prevent motor damage.

Battery and Charging

Before using the tool, ensure the battery is fully charged. Insert the battery into the charger until it clicks. The pilot lamp indicates the charging status:

  • Blinking: Before charging or charging complete.
  • Steady light: Charging in progress.
  • Blinking (0.5s on/off): Charging complete.
  • Blinking (1s on/0.5s off): Overheat standby.
  • Flickering: Charging impossible (malfunction).

Operation

Mounting the blade

  1. Turn the blade holder in the direction indicated by the arrow.
  2. Insert the blade all the way into the small slit of the blade holder.
  3. Release the blade holder to lock the blade in place.
  4. Pull the back of the saw blade two or three times by hand to ensure it is securely mounted.

Note: T-shank jigsaw blades (sold separately) can also be used with this product.

Plunge cutting

Use the collar or the base as support and gradually cut in from the tip of the blade. If the base is removed for window cutting, ensure it is re-attached before continuing operation.

Maintenance and Inspection

Always turn off the switch and remove the battery before performing maintenance. Regularly inspect the blade for dullness or damage and replace it if necessary. Keep the tool clean by wiping it with a soft dry cloth or a cloth moistened with soapy water. Do not use solvents like gasoline or paint thinner.

LED Light Warning Signals

If the LED light blinks during operation, a safeguard function has been triggered:

  • Overload Protection: Remove the cause of the overload.
  • Temperature Protection: Allow the tool and battery to cool down.
  • Low Voltage Protection: Recharge the battery.
