The HiKOKI SP 18VA is an electronic sander and polisher designed for finishing surfaces. It features a variable speed dial (1-6) to match the tool speed to the specific task. The tool is equipped with an electronic control circuit to maintain speed under load.
Assembly
Before operation, ensure the tool is disconnected from the power source.

- Loop Handle: Attach the loop handle using the provided bolt and washer (Figure 1).
- Sanding Disc: Assemble the sanding disc as shown in Figure 2.
- Wool Bonnet: Assemble the wool bonnet as shown in Figure 3.
Operation
The motor speed can be adjusted by rotating the dial. Turn towards '6' to increase speed and towards '1' to decrease speed.

- Sander Operation: Hold the tool at an angle of approximately 15° to 25° to the material surface (Figure 5). Do not apply excessive pressure; the tool's weight is sufficient.
- Polisher Operation: Use a fine-grain sanding disc for preliminary polishing, followed by the wool bonnet with polishing compound or wax.
Maintenance and Inspection

- Mounting Screws: Regularly inspect all mounting screws and ensure they are tight.
- Carbon Brushes: Inspect carbon brushes regularly. Replace them when they reach the 'wear limit' (Figure 6).
- Motor Maintenance: Keep the motor winding clean and free from oil or water.
- Lock Pin: Clean the lock pin section if it becomes dirty.
Safety
Always wear eye and ear protection. Do not use the tool for grinding, wire brushing, or cutting-off. Keep the power cord away from the rotating accessory to prevent entanglement.
