The Hilti DD AF-CA L is an auto-feed unit designed for use with the DD 150-U diamond core drilling machine and DD-ST 150-U CTL drill stand. It enables automatic drilling in mineral materials.
Installation
Ensure the drill stand is anchored securely. Remove the manual hand wheel from the carriage. Mount the auto-feed unit onto the carriage, ensuring the square shaft engages correctly. Secure with the locking screw.
Pairing
Connect the system to power. Simultaneously press the pairing buttons on the diamond core drilling machine. Verify the emergency stop switch is functional. The unit will pair automatically.
Operation (CUT-ASSIST)
The system operates in CUT-ASSIST mode. Ensure the unit is mounted, paired, and the continuous-running lock is activated on the drilling machine. Start the process by pressing the start button.
Description
The DD AF-CA L is a system product for wet core drilling in mineral materials. It is operated via the display of the connected diamond core drilling machine.
Safety
Warning: The auto-feed unit is a system product that must only be used with compatible diamond core drilling machines and drill stands. The use of a vacuum pump is not permissible for securing the system when using the auto-feed unit.
Operation
The system features a CUT-ASSIST mode for automated drilling. Parameters such as power reduction, overhead drilling, hole-starting mode, and break-through detection can be adjusted via the drilling machine's display.
Maintenance
Regularly clean the air vents with a dry brush. Use only a slightly damp cloth to clean the casing. Do not use silicone-based cleaning agents. Repairs to electrical components must only be carried out by trained electrical specialists.
Troubleshooting
If the system is not functional, check the power supply, ensure the emergency stop is not triggered, and verify that the auto-feed unit is correctly paired with the drilling machine.

Emergency stop triggered
Cancel the emergency stop by pulling up the EMERGENCY STOP switch.
Fault in AC supply
Check power supply, extension cord length, or restart the system.
Diamond core bit jams
Turn the hand wheel and move the carriage up and down to release.
Before use
- Ensure the drill stand is securely anchored.
- Remove the hand wheel from the carriage.
- Check that the auto-feed unit is correctly mounted and secured.
- Verify the EMERGENCY STOP switch is in working order.
- Ensure the cooling water supply is connected.
