This document provides essential instructions for the installation of the Hinkley 23014BK wall mount fixture. Before beginning, ensure the power supply is turned off. The process involves mounting the fixture to a junction box, making electrical connections, installing the glass panels, and applying weatherproofing sealant for outdoor installations.
Assembly and Mounting
Follow these steps to mount the fixture body:
- Find a clear area to work.
- Remove the mounting plate (A) from the fixture backplate (B) by removing the head screws (C).
- Attach the mounting bracket to the junction box.
- Slide the wires from the junction box through the center hole of the mounting plate.
- Secure the mounting plate to the junction box using two 8-32 screws (F). Ensure the plate is vertical.
- Hook the safety cable to the backplate to support the fixture during wiring.
- Once wiring is complete, secure the backplate (B) to the mounting bracket using the previously removed screws (C).
- Additional support can be added by using screws (S) through keyhole slots (K) into wall anchors (W).
Wiring and Grounding
Safety Warning: Always turn off the power supply before installation. If new wiring is required, consult a qualified electrician.

Indoor Fixtures
- Connect the positive supply wire (A) to the positive fixture lead (B) using a twist-on connector.
- Connect the negative supply wire (C) to the negative fixture lead (D) using a twist-on connector.
Outdoor Fixtures
- Follow the same connection steps as indoor fixtures.
- Important: Cover the open end of the connectors with silicone sealant to form a watertight seal.
Grounding Instructions
- Flush Mount: Fasten the fixture ground wire (E) to the mounting strap (M) with the ground screw (S).
- Chain Hung: Loop the fixture ground wire (E) under the head of the ground screw (S) on the mounting strap (M) and connect to the building system ground wire.
- Post-Mount: Connect the fixture ground wire (E) to the power supply ground with a twist-on connector inside the post.
Glass Installation
Follow these steps to install the glass panels:

- Remove screws (6) and take off the fixture top (5) to access the glass cage.
- Install an appropriate medium base bulb.
- Slip the bottom of the glass panel (2) into the channel (3) at the bottom of the outer body.
- Tip the glass up and into position.
- Secure the top of the glass using screws (1) and glass clips (4).
- Repeat for all panels.
- Replace the fixture top (5) using the previously removed screws (6).
Weatherproofing and Caulking
To ensure the fixture is weather-resistant for outdoor use:

- After securing the fixture to the wall, seal the gap between the mounting top and fixture base with waterproof caulk or silicone sealant.
- Apply a small bead of caulk or sealant under the ball knobs used to mount the fixture.
- Seal the gap between the wall and the fixture backplate on the top and both sides.
