This manual provides instructions for the Hitachi UM 16VST and UM 12VST mixers. Always ensure the power switch is in the OFF position before connecting to a power source to prevent accidental starting. Hold the machine firmly with both hands during operation for safety and control.

Assembly
To mount the stirrer paddle (Fig. 2):

- Ensure the switch is in the OFF position and the tool is disconnected from power.
- Screw the stirrer paddle onto the spindle.
- Hold the spindle in place with a wrench and tighten the paddle with another wrench in a clockwise direction.
Operation
Switching: Depress the trigger to start the tool. Release it to stop. For continuous operation, pull the trigger and push the stopper. To switch off, pull the trigger again to release the stopper.

Speed Adjustment: Use the gear shift dial (Fig. 3) to change between low speed (1) and high speed (2). If the dial is hard to turn, rotate the spindle slightly. Use the speed control dial (Fig. 5) to pre-select the desired rotation speed.
Maintenance
Regularly inspect mounting screws and tighten if loose. Keep the motor clean and free of water or oil. Inspect carbon brushes periodically; if worn, replace them with genuine Hitachi carbon brushes of the same number. Repairs should only be performed by an authorized Hitachi Service Center.
