Important Safety Information

Before using the Hobbywing QUICRUN Outer 1621SL motor, ensure all components in your build are compatible. Never apply full throttle without a pinion installed, as high RPMs without load can damage the motor. Stop usage immediately if the motor temperature exceeds 100°C (212°F) to prevent magnet demagnetization and coil damage.

Installation and Connection

The motor features 6 mounting holes with M2 specifications and a depth of 1.8mm. Ensure your mounting screws are not too long to avoid damaging the internal components. There are three mounting hole spacing options: 9mm, 10mm, and 12.5mm.

Wiring: There is no specific wire sequence required for the connection between the motor and the ESC. You can connect the three wires (A, B, C) in any order. If the motor rotates in the opposite direction, simply swap any two wires or adjust the "Motor Rotation" parameter in your ESC settings.

Gearing and Temperature Management

Selecting the correct gear ratio is critical for performance and longevity. Start with a small pinion (high FDR) and monitor the motor temperature regularly. If the temperature remains low, you may switch to a larger pinion (lower FDR). Always check the motor and ESC temperature after running, especially when changing track conditions or weather.

Practical help

Common problems

Motor overheating

Check gear ratio; use a smaller pinion/higher FDR. Ensure temperature stays below 100°C/212°F.

Motor rotates in wrong direction

Swap any two of the three motor-to-ESC wires or change the 'Motor Rotation' setting in the ESC.

Before use

  • Verify screw length (1.8mm depth max) to avoid internal damage.
  • Ensure all electrical connections are secure.
  • Check that the pinion is installed before applying throttle.
  • Confirm the gear ratio is appropriate for the vehicle.
