Important Safety Information
This document provides critical safety instructions for HWM Intelligens and COMLog series data loggers. Warning: This equipment contains a high-strength magnet. Do not carry or place near anyone with a heart pacemaker, as it can cause interference. It may also damage magnetic storage media, TV/PC screens, and watches.
ATEX Environment Requirements
- Only use ATEX-approved loggers, sensors, and accessories in ATEX environments.
- Installation must be performed by fully ATEX-trained personnel.
- Ensure all accessories are compatible with the equipment.
Use and Handling
The equipment contains sensitive parts. Do not throw, drop, or subject it to mechanical shock. When transporting, ensure devices are secured and cushioned.
Antenna Installation
The antenna must be attached before use. Align the connector and rotate the outer nut clockwise until finger-tight. Do not over-tighten. When removing the logger, grasp the main body or use optional lifting hooks; do not pull by the antenna or cable.
Cleaning and Storage
- Clean with a soft cloth lightly moistened with mild cleaning fluid.
- Ensure water-tight covers are attached during cleaning.
- Do not pressure wash.
- Store unused loggers in original packaging.
Battery Safety
The equipment uses a non-rechargeable Lithium Thionyl Chloride battery. Do not attempt to recharge, crush, disassemble, heat above 100°C, or incinerate. If battery fluid leaks, stop using the product immediately and rinse affected areas with water.
Compliance and Disposal
This equipment complies with WEEE, FCC, and Radio Equipment Directives. Dispose of batteries and equipment responsibly at designated collection points. Do not dispose of as normal domestic waste.

Common problems
Stop using the product immediately. If fluid contacts skin/eyes, rinse with water and consult a doctor.
Do not remove the logger by pulling on the antenna or cable; use the main body or lifting hooks.
Ensure only ATEX-approved sensors and accessories are used in ATEX environments.
Before use
- Check for pacemaker proximity (high-strength magnet warning).
- Verify ATEX compatibility if installing in hazardous areas.
- Ensure antenna is attached and finger-tight.
- Check that all connection points have water-tight covers attached.
- Verify battery status (non-rechargeable).
