This manual provides essential instructions for the Kobalt 1824B-03 24V Max Brushless Reciprocating Saw. Always read the full safety information before use. Key operations include battery installation, blade changing, and proper cutting techniques for wood and metal.
Product overview
The tool features a blade clamp (A), pivoting shoe (B), LED work light (C), shoe-release lever (D), blade-release lever (E), switch-lock button (F), variable-speed trigger switch (G), and uses a bi-metal blade (H).

Safety information
Always wear eye protection with side shields. When cutting, be aware of hidden wiring or pipes. Keep hands away from the cutting area and do not reach under the material being cut. Use clamps to secure the workpiece.
Operating instructions

Battery pack
To attach, align the battery with the tool grooves and slide it on until it snaps. To detach, press the battery-release buttons and pull forward.
Variable-speed trigger
Press the switch-lock button (F) to unlock, then squeeze the trigger (G). Higher pressure increases speed.
Pivoting shoe adjustment
Remove the battery. Pivot the shoe-release lever (D) to the vertical position, slide the shoe to the desired position, and return the lever to the original position to tighten.
Blade installation
Remove the battery. Pivot the blade-release lever (E) to open the clamp (A). Insert the blade as far as possible and release the lever to lock.
Cutting techniques

General cutting
Ensure the workpiece is firmly clamped. Use the appropriate blade for the material. Adjust the pivoting shoe so the blade extends beyond the shoe and workpiece at all times. Start the saw and bring it to maximum speed before applying the blade to the workpiece.
Plunge cutting
Ideal for surfaces that cannot be cut from an edge. Ensure the workpiece is clamped. Adjust the shoe so the blade extends beyond it. With the blade just above the workpiece, unlock the trigger and bring the saw to maximum speed. Use the edge of the shoe as a pivot and slowly lower the blade into the workpiece.
Maintenance
All maintenance should be performed by a qualified technician. Keep the tool and ventilation slots clean using a soft, dry cloth. Do not use detergents or alcohol.
Troubleshooting
If the saw does not work, charge the battery. If the blade binds, check operation or replace the blade. If the LED blinks rapidly, the tool has stopped to protect internal circuits; let it cool down. If the LED blinks slowly, the battery charge is low.
