Quick guide from the manual

The Sanela SLT series are anti-scalding thermostatic mixing valves designed to regulate water temperature and prevent scalding. They are factory-preset to approximately 45°C. For proper operation, non-return valves must be installed on both cold and hot water inlets. The device can be installed in both vertical and horizontal positions.

Installation

Before installation, ensure the piping system matches the intended application (e.g., with or without a recycling circuit). Always install non-return valves on the inlets to prevent backflow. Do not connect the recycling piping directly to the boiler.

  • Install non-return valves on both hot and cold water inlets.
  • Ensure the pressure of the cold and hot water supply is balanced.
  • For systems with a recycling circuit, use gate valves to balance the flow if the temperature is higher than the set mixed water temperature.

Setting

Calibration should be performed after installation is complete.

  1. Turn on the cold water supply before the hot water supply to prevent damage to the thermostatic cartridge.
  2. Open at least half of the taps on the fixtures supplied by the valve.
  3. Use the adjusting knob to set the required mixed water temperature while monitoring the built-in thermometer.
  4. If using a recycling circuit, turn off all taps and wait until the thermometer shows the temperature of the recycling circuit. Adjust gate valves A and B to balance the system if necessary.

Safety and Maintenance

The valve features an internal thermostatic element that reacts to temperature changes to maintain a constant output. If the cold water supply fails, the valve automatically blocks the hot water supply to prevent burns. The device is maintenance-free due to high-quality materials, but periodic checks of the system are recommended to ensure precision.

Technical Data

  • Maximum inlet water temperature: 85°C
  • Setting range: 20-65°C
  • Maximum pressure: 10 bar

Practical help

Common problems

Temperature fluctuations or inability to reach set temperature

Check that pressures of both hot and cold water supplies are balanced and that non-return valves are correctly installed.

Cartridge damage during installation

Always turn on the cold water supply before the hot water supply.

Recycling circuit temperature too high

Use gate valve A to reduce flow as shown in the installation diagram (Fig. 2).

Before use

  • Verify that non-return valves are installed on both hot and cold inlets.
  • Ensure the system pressure is within the 10 bar limit.
  • Check that the inlet water temperature does not exceed 85°C.
  • Confirm the installation orientation (vertical or horizontal is acceptable).
  • Ensure all taps are closed before final calibration.

Specs in practice

Max inlet temperature
The absolute maximum temperature the valve can handle safely (85°C).
Pressure [bar]
The operating pressure affecting the flow rate (l/min) capacity of the valve.

Model compatibility

  • Compatible with both vertical and horizontal mounting positions.
  • Requires non-return valves on both inlets for safety compliance (EN 1111).
  • Not suitable for direct connection of recycling piping to the boiler.
