Quick guide from the manual

The Sealey AUTOCHARGE1200HF is a dual-voltage smart charger and maintainer designed for 12V and 24V lead-acid (STD, AGM, GEL) and Lithium batteries. It features a 9-stage charging process and reverse polarity protection. Always connect the charger to the battery before plugging it into the mains supply.

Safety

  • Electrical Safety: Ensure the charger is in good condition. Use only on a stable surface in an upright position. Do not use if cables or plugs are damaged.
  • Battery Safety: Lead-acid batteries generate explosive gases. Ensure the area is well-ventilated and keep away from sparks, flames, or smoking.
  • Personal Precautions: Wear eye protection and protective clothing. Remove metallic items like rings or watches. Keep fresh water and soap nearby in case of acid contact.

Operation

The charger features a digital display and simple controls for selecting voltage, battery type, and charging current.

  • Step 1: Select voltage (12V or 24V).
  • Step 2: Select battery type (STD, AGM, GEL, or Lithium).
  • Step 3: Select charging current (2A, 4A, 6A, 8A, 12A, or Auto).
  • Step 4: Press the Enter/Exit button to start charging.

Connecting to the Battery

The unit comes with two lead sets: battery clamps for quick connection and eyelets for semi-permanent installation.

  1. Ensure the charger is disconnected from the mains.
  2. For negative earthed vehicles: Connect the red (+) clamp to the positive battery post, then the black (-) clamp to the negative post or vehicle chassis.
  3. For positive earthed vehicles: Connect the black (-) clamp to the negative battery post, then the red (+) clamp to the positive post or vehicle chassis.
  4. For batteries not in a vehicle: Connect red (+) to positive and black (-) to negative.

LCD Display and Fault Codes

The display shows charging progress and status icons. If a fault occurs, the following codes may appear:

  • F01: Short circuit protection.
  • F02: Over-voltage protection.
  • F03: Over-current protection.
  • F04: Over-temperature protection.
  • F05: Over-time charging.
  • F06: Reverse connection protection.
