This document provides essential safety and operational instructions for the Sealey RE2280.V2 1250kg Telescopic Spring Compressor. It is designed specifically for wishbone suspension systems. Important: Never use an air wrench with this tool, as it will invalidate the warranty. Always wear approved eye protection and ensure the spring diameter is compatible (80mm - 135mm) before use.
Safety
- Stop compressing the spring before the coil windings touch.
- Wear approved safety eye protection.
- Do not use the compressor if parts are damaged or missing.
- Do not force the tool beyond its design limits.
- Keep hands and body clear of the spring during operation.
- Ensure the work area is clean, well-lit, and the floor is not slippery.
Operation
Before starting, adjust the compressor to a length of approximately 200mm. This ensures adequate travel for full compression.

- Ensure the coil spring is free from dirt and grease.
- Jack up the vehicle and safely support it.
- Insert the lower jaw (Fig.2-A) into the lower spring windings.
- Insert the upper jaw (Fig.2-B) into the upper spring windings, ensuring they sit between the inner and outer rims of the jaw.
- Insert the main body from below, hexagonal nut facing downwards. Guide it through the lower jaw and into the upper jaw.
- Once through the upper jaw, turn the body approximately 50 degrees to lock it into the grooves (Fig.3).
- Use a 19mm hex socket to turn the drive nut until jaws are firmly in contact.
- Verify correct alignment before continuing compression.
- Remove the assembly from the vehicle once sufficient compression is reached.
- To re-mount, reverse the procedure.
Maintenance
- Check the compressor for damage or wear before every use.
- If the unit is suspect, do not use it; contact your Sealey stockist for repair kits.
- Grease the compressor spindle at least every six months using graphite grease.
- Store in a safe, dry, childproof location when not in use.
