Quick guide from the manual

The Sealey G2201.V2 is a 2200W petrol-powered generator designed for outdoor use. Before first use, you must fill the engine with approximately 0.6L of 15W40 engine oil and fill the fuel tank with petrol. The unit features an automatic low-oil cut-out and an overload protection system. Always operate on a level surface (maximum 10° tilt) and ensure adequate ventilation.

Introduction

This heavy-duty generator is designed for portability and protection, suitable for running power tools and lighting units. It features anti-vibration engine mounts, a fuel gauge, and two 230V 13A sockets.

Set up

Electrical Safety: Ensure all cables and connected equipment are in perfect condition. Do not connect the generator to the domestic power network. Keep cable lengths as short as possible.

Earth Connection: The housing must be connected to earth to discharge static electricity. Connect one end of a cable to the earth connection on the generator and the other to an external earth, such as an earthing rod.

Operation

Starting the Engine:

Starting controls
Starting controls
  1. Ensure the generator has sufficient ventilation and the ignition cable is secured to the spark plug.
  2. Disconnect any electrical equipment.
  3. Open the petrol tap (turn it down).
  4. Move the ON/OFF switch to the ON position.
  5. Move the choke lever to the IØI position.
  6. Pull the recoil starter handle forcefully. If it does not start, pull again.
  7. Once the engine has started, push the choke lever back to its original position.

Connecting Equipment: Connect your equipment to the 230V sockets. The generator can be loaded continuously (S1) with 2000W and temporarily (S2) for a maximum of 2 minutes with 2200W.

Switching Off: Allow the engine to run briefly without load to cool down, then move the ON/OFF switch to OFF and close the petrol tap.

Maintenance

Always switch off the motor and disconnect the spark plug boot before performing maintenance.

Maintenance procedures
Maintenance procedures
  • Cleaning: Keep air vents and housing free of dirt. Wipe with a clean cloth or use low-pressure compressed air. Do not use solvents.
  • Air Filter: Open the clips to remove the cover and filter elements. Clean by tapping on a flat surface. If very dirty, wash with soapy water, rinse, and air dry.
  • Spark Plug: Check after 20 hours of operation and clean with a copper wire brush. Service every 50 hours.
  • Oil Change: Change oil when the motor is at working temperature. Drain via the oil drain plug into a drip tray. Refill with 15W40 oil to the top mark on the dipstick (approx. 0.6L). Do not screw the dipstick in when checking the level; simply insert it up to the thread.

Troubleshooting

If the generator shuts down, check the overload cut-out. You can restart the sockets by pressing the overload cut-out button. If the engine will not start, check the oil level; the automatic oil cut-out will prevent starting if the oil level is too low.
