Quick guide from the manual

This document provides instructions for the Sealey MC135 135kg hydraulic lift. It is intended for off-road and trials motorcycles. Key safety requirements include ensuring the floor is level and solid (concrete preferred), never exceeding the 135kg capacity, and always engaging the safety locking bar before working on the bike.

Assembly

Before first use, the hydraulic circuit must be purged of air: fully press the release valve pedal and pump the lift pedal 15 to 20 times. Test the lift unladen by raising it to full height and lowering it slowly.

  • Lift pedal: Insert into the jack socket and secure with the bolt while the lift is in the lowered position.
  • Anchor brackets: Fit the two brackets to the platform using four nuts per bracket. Choose the position that best aligns with your motorcycle's foot pegs.

Operation

Ensure the motorcycle's center of gravity is over the platform and that the platform fits snugly against the underside of the bike.

  1. Position the bike over the lift and raise the platform until it contacts the bike.
  2. Secure the bike using the adjustable J-hooks hooked into the footpegs and attached to the anchor points. If J-hooks cannot be used, secure the bike with suitable straps.
  3. Pump the lift pedal to raise the load to the desired height.
  4. Insert the locking bar into the frame holes to prevent accidental lowering. There are four locking heights: 490mm, 660mm, 780mm, and 895mm.
  5. To lower, remove the safety bar and slowly press the release valve pedal. The speed of descent is controlled by how far the pedal is depressed.

Maintenance

Store the lift in the lowest position when not in use to prevent corrosion. Periodically check the ram and piston for signs of rust and clean with an oiled cloth. Lubricate all moving parts with acid-free oil. To check hydraulic oil levels, place the lift on a level surface in the fully lowered position and remove the filler plug; the oil should reach the filler hole. Use only high-quality hydraulic oil; never use brake fluid.

Safety

Always keep children and unauthorized persons away from the work area. Do not operate the lift if it is damaged or if you are under the influence of medication or alcohol. Ensure no obstructions are under the platform before lowering.

Practical help

Common problems

Lift will not hold height

Ensure the locking bar is correctly inserted into the frame holes at one of the four available heights (490, 660, 780, or 895mm).

Air in hydraulic system

Purge the system by fully pressing the release valve pedal and pumping the lift pedal 15 to 20 times.

Bike unstable on lift

Ensure the center of gravity is centered over the platform and use the adjustable J-hooks or additional straps to secure the bike to the anchor points.

Before use

  • Purge the hydraulic circuit of air.
  • Check that the floor is level and solid (concrete).
  • Verify the motorcycle weight does not exceed 135kg.
  • Ensure the bike is properly strapped or secured with J-hooks.
  • Check for overhead obstructions.
  • Inspect all parts for damage or corrosion.

Specs in practice

Capacity: 135kg

Model compatibility

  • Designed specifically for off-road and trials bikes.
  • Requires a motorcycle with a suitable structure and center of gravity to fit the platform.
