Quick guide from the manual
This document provides essential safety and operational instructions for the Sealey 1153CX.V5 3-tonne long chassis trolley jack. The jack is designed for lifting vehicles only and must not be used to support a load. Always use axle stands after lifting.
Safety
- Use only on level, solid ground (concrete preferred).
- Ensure the vehicle handbrake is engaged and the transmission is in gear or PARK.
- Place wedges under vehicle wheels.
- Ensure a minimum distance of 0.5m between the vehicle and static objects.
- Never exceed the 3-tonne rated capacity.
- Do not adjust the safety overload valve.
- Store in a safe, dry, childproof area with the jack fully lowered.
Operation
Before first use
Purge the hydraulic system to remove air: place the handle on the release valve (B) and turn anti-clockwise to open. Move the handle to the jacking point (A) and pump for 30-40 seconds. Close the release valve (B) by turning clockwise.
Jacking the vehicle
- Ensure the jack is positioned under the manufacturer's recommended lifting point.
- Close the release valve by turning it clockwise.
- Insert the handle into the socket (A) and pump until the saddle reaches the lifting point.
- Ensure the lifting point is centered on the saddle before raising the vehicle.
Lowering the vehicle
If using axle stands, raise the jack slightly to remove them. Turn the release valve (B) anti-clockwise very slowly. The lowering speed is controlled by the degree of rotation of the handle.
Maintenance
- Keep the jack clean and lubricate moving parts regularly.
- Check for broken, cracked, or loose parts before every use.
- Oil level check: Fully lower the jack. Remove the front cover plate (C) and filler plug (O). The oil level should be at the bottom of the screw hole. Pump 5-6 times to expel air after filling.
- Use only hydraulic jack oil. Do not use brake fluid.
- Hydraulic system maintenance must only be performed by a qualified person.
Troubleshooting
If the jack fails to operate correctly, check for air in the system by opening the release valve and pumping the handle several times. If the jack will not lift the load, ensure the release valve is fully closed and the oil level is correct. For persistent issues, contact a local service agent at 01284 757500.
