The Sun Joe 16-Inch Reel Mower is a manual, non-powered lawn mower. Before use, ensure the mowing area is clear of foreign objects like rocks, wire, and toys. Always wear eye protection and never operate the mower on wet grass. Follow the 1/3 rule: never remove more than 1/3 of the total grass height in a single session to maintain lawn health.
Assembly
Fitting the handle:

- Secure the middle handle bars to the upper handle using the first set of knobs and bolts.
- Connect the lower handle bars using the second set of knobs and bolts.
- Attach the assembled handle to the mower base by lining up the holes with the posts on the side plates and pressing inward.
Assembling the grass catcher:
- Fit the support rod into the tube of the grass catcher.
- Clip the protective leather profiles onto the support rod.
- Hook the assembled grass catcher onto the mower by connecting the sockets to the roller bar end shaft.
- Secure the locking strap to the center bar on the lower handle.
Operation
Cutting height adjustment:

- The mower features 4-position manual height adjustment (0.47 in. to 1.57 in.).
- Pull out the height adjustment knobs on both sides of the frame and rotate them to the desired setting (Position A for highest, Position B for lowest).
Ensuring a clean cut:
- Place the mower on a flat surface and remove the handles and grass catcher.
- Insert a piece of paper between the cutting bar and the reel blades.
- Slowly turn the wheel by hand; the blades should slice the paper evenly along the entire length of the cutting bar.
Care and Maintenance
Sharpening and adjustments:

- If the mower cuts intermittently, use the provided hex wrench to tighten the adjustment bolt closest to the issue. Turn clockwise approximately 1/8th of a turn until the blades make contact.
- Do not overtighten the bolts, as this can damage the cutting bar.
- Clean the exterior with a soft brush and cloth. Do not use water, solvents, or polishes.
- Store in a dry place.
Service and Support
If your mower requires service or maintenance, contact the Snow Joe + Sun Joe customer service center at 1-866-SNOWJOE (1-866-766-9563).
