The Thule CROWN 5200 TH 12V is an electric awning designed for RVs. Key operational requirements include a 12V DC power supply (minimum 11V) and the use of a momentary contact switch for operation. In the event of a power failure, the awning can be operated manually using the provided override tool.
Installation
The installation process involves mounting the awning housing to the vehicle wall and securing the support brackets. Ensure all mounting points are sealed with neutral silicone to prevent water ingress. Follow the specific bracket alignment instructions provided in the manual to ensure the awning is level and operates smoothly.

Electrical Wiring
The awning requires a 12V DC power connection. Observe correct polarity during installation:

- Red wire: Connect to positive (+) 12V DC.
- Black wire: Connect to negative (-) 12V DC.
Technical Specifications:
- Voltage: 12V DC (minimum 11V).
- Peak Current (Ipeak): 20.5A.
- Nominal Current (Inom): 6A in / 3A out.
Warning: Operation must only be performed using a switch with momentary contact.
Adjustment
The awning angle and leveling can be adjusted to ensure proper closure and tension. Use the adjustment screws located on the awning arms. Ensure the left (L) and right (R) sides are balanced (L=R) to prevent uneven operation or damage to the mechanism.
Operation
Opening and Closing: Use the momentary contact switch to extend or retract the awning. When opening, ensure the area is clear of obstructions. The awning should be stopped at the desired extension.
Tensioning: Once extended, ensure the fabric is properly tensioned. If the awning is not tensioned correctly, it may sag or flap in the wind.
Manual Override
If the electrical system fails, you can operate the awning manually:
- Remove the protective cap on the side of the awning housing using a screwdriver.
- Insert the manual override tool into the opening.
- Rotate the tool to manually extend or retract the awning.
