Quick Guide for Installation

This guide provides instructions for installing the Wayfair 0508-1W sconce. Before beginning, ensure the power is turned off at the circuit breaker. All installation work should be performed by an accredited professional. Ensure you have an assistant to support the fixture's weight during the wiring process.

Preparation

Carefully remove the fixture from the carton and locate the yellow bag containing all parts. Ensure you have the necessary tools, including a screwdriver. Remove the old fixture from the wall, including the old mounting strap.

Installation Steps

1. Mounting Strap: The mounting strap (A) contains several pairs of threaded holes and two sets of mounting screws (B & C). Tighten the hex nuts holding screws (B) if necessary. Place the mounting strap (A) against the junction box and secure it using mounting screws (C).
2. Backplate Alignment: Place the backplate (D) over the mounting strap (A) to align the mounting screws (B) with the holes in the backplate. This ensures the fixture hangs straight.
3. Wiring: Pull the house wires through the center of the mounting strap (A). Connect the fixture wires to the power supply wires from the junction box using wire connectors. Ensure all twists are in the same direction. If there is no house ground wire, wrap the fixture's ground wire around the ground screw (E) on the mounting bracket.
4. Securing the Fixture: Place the backplate (D) over the mounting strap (A) so the screws (B) protrude through the holes. Secure the backplate with decorative nuts (F) until it is snug against the wall.
5. Final Assembly: Install the light bulb (not provided) according to the fixture's specifications. Do not exceed the maximum wattage. Raise the glass shade (I) into the hardware cover (G) and secure it tightly with screws (H).

Lighting Placement Tips

For optimal lighting, consider the following placement guidelines:

• Kitchen Islands: Center a linear pendant over the island. Use one pendant for every 24 inches of island length. Fixtures should hang at least 30 inches above the countertop.
• Dining Tables: Fixtures should hang at least 30 inches above the table. Use a fixture that is 12 inches narrower than the width of the table.
• Open Areas: The bottom of the fixture should hang at least 7.5 feet from the floor. Ensure there is clearance for any opening doors.
