This document provides instructions for replacing the wind cup assembly on an AcuRite 3-in-1 sensor. This procedure is necessary if you are experiencing issues with wind speed readings, such as no readings or lower than expected values, provided the sensor is mounted correctly. Note that you must remove the 3-in-1 sensor from its mounting location to perform this installation.
Before you begin
Ensure you have the following items ready:
- AcuRite 3-in-1 sensor
- Phillips head screwdriver
Battery handling
To prevent erroneous readings during handling and transport, remove the batteries:
- Press the release lever and pull off the lower housing of the sensor.
- Remove the battery compartment cover and take out the batteries.
- After the bearing is replaced, reinsert the batteries following the polarity (+/-) diagram in the compartment.
- Replace the battery compartment cover and the lower housing.
Installation steps

- Remove 4 screws: Remove the 4 long screws and separate the upper portion from the lower portion of the sensor.
- Remove and discard: Remove the old wind cup assembly and discard it.
- Install wind cup assembly: Line up the screw holes on the new wind cup assembly with the 3-in-1 sensor.
- Reinstall 4 long screws: Reinstall the 4 long screws to connect the wind cup assembly with the 3-in-1 sensor. Installation is complete.
